PVC Jacket 9/125 Singlemode Duplex SC-SC Patch Cable Fiber Optic
1. Fiber Patch Cord Basic Introduction:
Fiber optic patch cords are used when it is necessary to connect multiple devices in a network. Normally, they connect a switch to a patch panel or panel-to-panel. There is a wide range of fiber patch cords available.
SC-SC Fiber Optic Patch Cord is available in multimode and single-mode, duplex and simplex. which is used to connect fiber optic equipment to equipment or patch panel to equipment. It comprises a patch cable terminated with SC fiber optic connectors. For the fiber types, both Singlemode and Multimode are supported. Both simplex and duplex patch cord types are available

6. How to choose fiber patch cord?
1) Fiber Cable Mode: Single Mode or Multimode
The mode of fiber patch cables indicates how light beams travel within the fiber. There are two fiber cable modes: single mode and multimode.
2) Number of Fiber Strands: Simplex or Duplex
According to the number of fiber strands, there are simplex and duplex fiber patch cord. As shown in Figure 2, simplex fiber patch cord contains one single strand of fiber with one simplex connector on each end. It can be linked with a pair of BiDi transceiver modules featuring with one port. Whereas duplex fiber patch cord consists of two strands of glass or plastic with one duplex connector (or considered as two simplex connectors). It is often linked with common transceivers or dual fiber BiDi transceivers.
3) Choose the Right Cable Jacket Type (PVC/LSZH/OFNP/Armored)
Usually, there are three cable jacket types: Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) and Optical Fiber Nonconductive Plenum (OFNP). You can see there features in figure below and choose the right one for your network.
4)Connector Type: LC, SC, ST or Others
SC - a snap-in style connector. Known for its excellent performance. Referred to as Subscriber Connectors, Square Connectors, or Standard Connectors.
ST - a very popular choice connector for Multimode networks. Also referred to as Straight Tip connectors, they utilize a bayonet-style coupling type, enabling a simple twist-on and twist-off installation.
FC - was at one time the most popular single-mode connector type, but is now typically being replaced by SC and LC connectors. Also known as Ferrule Connectors, they utilize a screw-on coupling type to be used in high-vibration environments and are commonly used for datacom, telecom, measurement equipment, and single-mode lasers.
LC - a small form factor connector—measuring half the size of an SC connector. This is a popular choice for single-mode cables. Also referred to as Lucent Connectors, Little Connectors, or Local Connectors, these snap-in connectors are typically used for high-density connections and are compatible with plug-and-play devices such as SFP modules and XFP transceivers.
5) Choose the Right Connector Polish Type (UPC/APC)
Since the loss of the APC connector is lower than UPC connectors, usually, the optical performance of APC connectors is better than UPC connectors. In the current market, the APC connectors are widely used in applications such as FTTx, passive optical network (PON) and wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) that are more sensitive to return loss. But APC connector is usually expensive than UPC connector, so you should weigh the pros and cons. With those applications that call for high precision optical fiber signaling, APC should be the first consideration, but less sensitive digital systems will perform equally well using UPC. Usually, connector color of APC patch cable is green, and of UPC patch cable is blue.
