Basic Information
Fiber splitters are like distribution amplifiers, in that they will spit an incoming signal into multiple identical paths. These are passive devices and require no power and unlike electrical distribution amplifiers these do not boost signal strength, in fact, they do the opposite, the incoming signal power is divided into the outputs resulting in reduced signal strength.
PLC - Planar Lightwave Circuit Used to split optical signals to multiple ports. The splitting or coupling ratio is equal to all ports and cannot be modified. The number of output ports is customized per customer request. The FBT coupler supports a wide range of continuous wavelengths and applies to SMF only.
